Unless somebody’s going all out to create a phantom fuelie Pontiac from scratch, we imagine this 1958 Pontiac Rochester fuel injection unit for sale on Hemmings.com will likely end up on or as a spare for one of the few 1958 Pontiacs to get fuel injection from the factory, especially considering that the handful of fuel-injection-specific parts not included with the mostly complete and apparently never-used unit will pose a significant challenge to find and purchase for those who don’t already have them. Still, it’s a remarkable piece of engineering, and we appreciate getting a look at the underbelly of the unit. From the seller’s description:
with distributor and throttle linkage, Rochester Products model number 7014880. The FI unit appears new, never used. It may have been bolted to an engine, but has never been started. Refer to the photos, there is no dirt or carbon in the air meter (throttle body), plenum runners or fuel injector nozzles. The distributor is used and in very good condition. GM records show that only 511 of these units were produced making this a rare find. I believe that this unit will fit all Pontiac V8 engnies from 1955 thru 1963. I do not have the factory water crossover or air cleaner package for this unit.
