Volkswagen Beetles are notoriously easy to work on, so how much time and effort goes into the full restoration of one? That depends on what level of detail you intend to get down to, and Gary Stone put an awful lot of detail into the 1958 Sun Roof model that Mark McCourt photographed and wrote up for SIA #199, February 2004. Starting with a mostly rust-free yet dented example, Gary lifted its body off its pan and stripped it down to its most basic components before rebuilding the Beetle piece by piece into an award-winning car.
