Before we launch into 2015, we reflect upon some of the great moments that happened this past year. As we express our gratitude for an awesome year of motorific experiences here at eBay Motors, we look forward to another year high revving memories and joyous times. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year! In 2014 we gave away some fast cars to a few lucky winners that entered our eBay Garage sweepstakes. Eric Thor was handed the key to a 580 horsepower Camaro ZL1 by Dale Earnhardt Jr., Rick LaFuente took delivery of a limited production Subaru WRX STI Launch Edition at the Red Bull Global RallyCross season finale in Las Vegas, and Kim Atkins was the lucky winner of a brand new, zero emission Tesla Model S to name a few. Other lucky winners drove home a Cadillac CTS, a Porsche 911, an Audi A5 Cabriolet, and Chevrolet Tahoe. That’s a lot of cars to give away in one year. Giving away a new WRX STI wasn’t the only time we were able to work with the good folks at Subaru. This year we sponsored the Subaru Rally Team USA and witnessed David Higgins and co-driver Craig Drew win their fourth consecutive Rally America championship, Travis Pastrana joining the team and rediscovering his love for rally racing, Sverre Isachsen winning his first GRC race in Seattle, and his team mate, Bucky Lasek, making the transition from pro-skateboarder to pro-racecar driver and winning a couple of podium finishes against a line-up of seasoned GRC racers like Ken Block and Tanner Foust. You can catch up the success and trials of the team by watching their Launch Control video series. 2014 also was the start of a new working relationship with NASCAR’s favorite driver and dedicated eBay user Dale Earnhardt Jr. We discovered that Dale Jr. is an eBay addict and uses eBay to buy and sell NASCAR collectible memorabilia. We are proud to be one of his sponsors and contribute to The Dale Jr. Foundation, which supports 34 local and regional charities. January 2014 Ford began celebrating the Mustang’s 50th anniversary by putting a 2015 Mustang atop the Empire State Building–quite a feat in itself. Throughout the year there was multiple celebrations and tributes to the Mustang’s 50th birthday and a faithful showing of some great pony car examples. Seeing and experiencing the past generations of Mustangs also gave us an appreciation of the 6th generation 2015 Mustang and its hallowed heritage. Just to be fair to our two-wheeled faithful, we gave away an Indian Chief Classic motorcycle and gave a voice to our new blogger, Laura Llovet, who contributed moto-musings from a woman’s perspective. Laura was one of the fortunate few that were invited to experience Harley-Davidson’s Project Livewire, their first open experiment with all-electric motorcycles. Riding a motorcycle is a unique and dangerous experience. Please be safe out there. Car shows are a perfect opportunity for us to meet the builders in the community who are passionate about cars and see some great builds that show off the creativity, hard work, and perseverance of the designers and builders. From the grandiose motoring of Pebble Beach automotive week, to the less intense local shows such as Wekfest and Goodguys, we were duly impressed by the stories of dedication and enthusiasm behind each car, truck and motorcycle we came across. Thanks to everyone who was along for the ride this year. We look forward to more action in 2015. Happy New Year!!!
