While we’d still want to examine the documentation that claims to prove this 1977 Lincoln Continental convertible’s origins and provenance (not to mention the underbody to see what sort of additional bracing, if any, was installed for the convertible conversion), it still appears to be a well-done car, not to mention one with low miles and a big-block Ford V-8. From the seller’s description:
All documentation included. Purchased in April of 1977, and according to James C. Leake (Lincoln Historian and Afficionado) “This is one of two cars ever built. One was built for Mrs. Henry Ford, and this one was made for a lady in Tulsa who unfortunately died very soon after the car was delivered.” Beautiful and unique white with red pinstripes and full red leather interior.
The car was purchased in mid-1978 by the second owner for $25,000 with about 2,000 miles on it. All top of the line options included. About 20 years later, in 1998 the car was auctioned by Barrett-Jackson and purchased by my cousin’s husband in Islamorada, Florida. I purchased the car in April of 2013 and have enjoyed it for two summers and stored it a dry warehouse with a cover when not in use. Truly a joy to drive with the 460 cubic inch V8.
Today, the car has approximately 23,700 miles and runs smoothly after the local Lincoln dealer gave it a tune up and swapped the fluids. Also replaced the brake power booster with a NOS unit. New belts as well. Was considering doing some upgrades, but the original nature of this car which includes the original tires and a bag of 8 track tapes, kept me from making any changes.
Very enjoyable, but I am working on a couple other projects and need the space in the garage.
