After more than three years of development, testing, teasing, and having the entire powertrain was revamped less than two years ago, the all-new Acura NSX made its world debut at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. Not only does the new NSX look stunning, it has the raw power to make it exciting for the driver as well. This hyper-hybrid has a combined output of 550+ horsepower from a twin-turbo V6, two electric motors at the front wheels, and a 9-speed dual clutch transmission. The NSX is the sports car that stunned the automotive world 25 years ago by showing that a Japanese maker could compete with the Ferraris of the world in creating an exotic, sexy and uncompromising car. 2005 was the last production year of the NSX and fans have been salivating over the revival of a new mid-engine sports car from Honda Motor Company since a concept was revealed at the 2012 NAIAS. While the original NSX was the first all-aluminum supercar, the new NSX is integrated with an ultra-rigid and lightweight multi-material body. The NSX also features an Advanced Sports Package with location of the key powertrain components including the mid-mounted engine, twin front motors, Sport Hybrid battery pack and power control unit in the center of the vehicle. The combination of this packaging and the lightweight body allows the lowest center of gravity to the vehicle. Honda has developed the new NSX with an interwoven dynamic design which blends the sports car form with supercar function. The vehicle also features a Human Support Cockpit which provides exceptional driver control, visibility and packaging. In keeping with the foundational philosophy of the original NSX, the next-generation NSX is designed to provide a new sports car experience that maximizes the capabilities of the driver, delivering exceptionally intuitive and confidence-inspiring response “at the will of the driver.” Cost of the all-new NSX is estimated at $150,ooo. Acura will start taking customer orders this summer and the vehicles will be supplied by the latter half of 2015.
