Low-priced compacts from the Sixties (especially those built by independents) tend not to get such nice restorations as this 1962 Studebaker Lark Regal for sale on Hemmings.com displays. That’s no jab against the owners of low-priced compacts, more a result of the restoration industry focusing on higher-priced and higher-profile cars from bigger automakers. However, the restorer of this Lark seemed to have figured out how to build one clean and snazzy everyman’s car. From the seller’s description:
has just less than 48,000 original miles. We are the 4th owners and we added only 100 miles in the past 2 years. We received the car as a gift from a relative but we have to sell to help pay for our daughter’s college education. The 3rd owner purchased the car with 47,000 miles and he personally restored every aspect of this car. He has restored close to 40 cars in the past 20 years. For this car he has painstakingly rebuilt the car inside and out including the engine along with a new radiator, clutch and brakes. Other improvements include: A new old stock grill, New old stock bumpers, New old stock radio, New old stock turn signals, New old stock heater, New old stock door handles, The upholstery is all original. The interior is immaculate. White wall tires. We have driven the car around town and on the freeways. It drives great. The car is a beauty.
