Diamond T is most closely associated with larger trucks, but from the 1930s into the 1950s, the brand also constructed pickup trucks for those with lesser hauling needs. Considered “the Cadillac of trucks,” Diamond T pickups offered buyers (arguably) more style than other trucks of the day, but high prices, a limited dealer network and changing consumer tastes eventually put an end to the company’s light truck offerings. This 1949 Diamond T 201 pickup, for sale on Hemmings.com, is an example of the brand’s second-to-last pickup offering, with 201 series trucks replaced by 222 series trucks in 1950. Said to be in good overall condition, with a single spot of rust needing remediation, this 201 pickup likely comes powered by a 236-cu.in. L-head six-cylinder engine, rated at 91 horsepower, but it’s not clear if the transmission is a three or four-speed unit. With a bit of restoration, this Diamond T would be a hit at any show and shone, or with a bit of preservation would make an unusual (if slow) weekend driver. From the seller’s description:
1949 Diamond T 201, Original unrestored condition, runs & drives, complete rebuild on brakes, gas tank was removed and relined. One spot of rust above front fender brace, could be covered with a half dollar, new 20″ tires. Restoration is available in my shop.
